Annual General Meeting of the Amicale Jogging Club on June 20, 2008

Meeting place: Theehuis "het Rieten Dak" in Delftse Hout, and attended by 14 members (4 apologies)

After the opening of the meeting the following agenda points were discussed:

1)      Financial report 2007: treasurer Wim van Klompenburg presented his report, which was approved by the members present. The financial situation remains sound, permitting the organization of the traditional Patent Run again this year.

The only other expenses relate to the circulation of the running magazines for AJC members only, and to the Munich relay.

Thomas Raming and Bert van Bommel acted act auditors.

It was agreed to have a membership fee of 15 EURO for this year again. Non-paying members have been deleted from the AJC members list. A call for payment will be sent out soon.

The club has now 48 paying members on the list.

2)      Election of the AJC Committee

The following persons were re-elected:

Chairman   Alain Lambert

Treasurer  Wim van Klompenburg,

Web master  Peter de Coene,

PR manager  Cécile Vanier.

Secretary   Thomas Pieper (Peter Bosma  resigned from this position)

Event Managers : Rob de Jager, Guus Sarneel, and Jan Gabriels.

Jaap Constant was declared a member of honour of the AJC.

3)      An overview of the running events and other activities in 2007/2008 was given.

Last year’s PATENT RUN (21.06.07) was a great success with some 152 finishers, and it was organized by a new Committee who did an excellent job. The “old” committee was too busy organizing the Munich-relay in Oct. and has been “pushed aside” by the younger generation from then onwards!  Wim van Klompenburg steps out and Guus Sarneel steps in as member of the organizing committee.

This year the Patent Run will take place on Wednesday June 25 at 16.45 h, incl. a kidsrun at 16.15 h.!

Three COOPER tests were organized in April, June, and September  2007  (and two in March and May 2008), and participation of EPO staff has also increased for this event, (especially just before the patent run), ranging from 8-24 runners.

On April 21 2007 a team of 4 runners participated successfully (2nd place) in The Hague International Community Games.

A small group went to Berlin on May 5 2007 to run the 25 k.

(incl the long distance training runs (24-35 km) as preparations.

We had a great trip to the half marathon of Klazienaveen on 26 of May 2007 with a group of 10 persons, we stayed in Hotel Boerland and had a great meal in a small restaurant called  "Tafelen Verrassend Culinair”

Cécile was very succesful (first lady) in the Swiss Jura Marathon (7 days) last summer.

Several AJC members participated in the Marathons of Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Berlin.

And then we don’t mention many ½ marathons and smaller races, like the Zevenheuvelenloop, Linschotenloop, CPC!

But the most important and most impressive event was definitely the RELAY RUN to MUNICH, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the EPO organized from October 5-9, 2007.

It was a major effort to arrange everything, but the team including many AJC members did a great job by enthusiastically working on the project.

The relay consisted of 12 runners and 12 support assistants, using three camper vans.

We got a lot of publicity (e.g. in the Gazette) and even the President Mrs Brimelow ran the last 500 m with the whole group. Unfortunately the Joggings Clubs in Munich, Vienna and Berlin did not participate.

Nevertheless it was an unforgettable event!!

Several relay’s were organized in advance, including a NIGHT-preparation run, and also the “Rondje Voorne” with participation of 3 AJC-teams (run-bike).

The magazine  distribution (Spiridon, RW Eng., RW Dutch, VO2 marathon) is still much appreciated by our AJC members.

Members who are not on the list can send a request to Peter Bosma.

However lately there is a hitch in the distribution channel as not all magazines are returning anymore.

Please note that you should send a magazine to the next person on the list within 3 days!!

Cécile, Wim and Jan Gabriels are still successfully leading/organizing the  Run for Fun, for both men and women, and intended for EPO staff who like to start with running or like to run in a group with a coach.  A new initiative in the run4fun is a mixed group of (new) runners.

Cécile is producing the informative AJC Newsletter with reports from runners and other interesting articles about running.

Cécile is giving the Core Stability Training to improve the personal running abilities.

Peter de Coene is constantly improving the  Intranet website for the AJC, which is highly appreciated by all of us, making our club more professional inside the EPO.

It is loaded with a lot of useful information about the Patentrun, Coopertests, discounts in running shops, etc and includes now also the RACE REGISTER and links to eg races in Holland and Belgium.

An AJC agenda covering all activities (like patent run, Cooper test, run4fun, core stability, etc) has been created.

So in conclusion the AJC is getting more and more active thanks to the input of several enthusiastic runners!!!!

However more women could actively play a role in the Club.

4)      Any other business

Another idea would be to buy several sets of running outfit with the AJC logo printed on them for participation in external races and in business teams representing the EPO.

(e.g. Plaspoelpolderloop, CPC,)

SPONSORING/CHARITY of running events (e.g. SAFARI GROET uit Schoorl) by the EPO or AMICALE was discussed, because it is too expensive for the AJC ALONE (>400 euro per team). The Safari Groet uit Schoorl (5, 10 k, 1/2M) could be organized in cooperation with ETWA. (Cécile will work it out).

Possible other trips in Holland / abroad in 2008/2009 can be made after proposals from AJC members (Berenloop Terschelling, Florenze marathon).

Other Cooper tests will be organized in  September and  October.

The Committee and all active members were thanked for the work done in 2007.

(The meeting minutes written by Peter Bosma).
