Klazienaveen half-marathon report by Peter Bosma pictures

On Saturday May 26 the half-marathon of Klazienaveen, Drenthe was on the programm for several AJC members.
We were with a group of 12 people (Rob de Jager; Bert van Bommel; Wim van Klompenburg; Jaap Constant and Peter Bosma together with family members).

Everybody went to Klazienaveen for this short trip on his own and we met some time before the start at 14.45 h.
It had rained the whole morning in this beautiful part of the Netherlands, but luckily it cleared up in the afternoon.
Due to injuries only 5 of us went running, the others had a good time on a terrace along the track.
The atmosphere is always great in Klazienaveen. Two years ago we were there also when the temperatures rose to 34 °C.
Now the air was 18°, so not too bad for running.
Our runners were well prepared as one can tell from the results:
Robert(-Jan) finished in 1.38; Bert(-Jan) in 1.45 and Wim(-Jan) in 40.40 for the 10km.
On top of that Janny van Bommel finished in 1.42 and Anne (van Raalte - van Klompenburg) in her first half-marathon in 1.59.
After the races we went to our hotel in downtown Emmen opposite the famous zoo.
Due to some miscommunication one double too few had been reserved for us, but happily the management found a solution for this interruption of good spirits.
In the evening we went to a very nice restaurant (called culinair tafelen) serving a 7-course diner mixed with spiritual fluids during the 5 hours we stayed there.
After a night well deserved sleep we enjoyed the breakfast and most of us went home or visited family in the area.
Wim and his family were on Sunday so brave to challenge Bokito's family in the zoo.
In conclusion a very nice trip again for the third time in 2 two years in the neighbourhood of Emmen.
Because there are so many more destinations for running in the Netherlands it might have been the last one there with such a group.

Soon we will come up with some new proposals for a next trip for AJC members and we hope that YOU will join us then too.

Office 30th birthday celebration: running relay from the Hague to Munich

Some of you might remember the '97 relay . Well, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the office, another relay of 12 runners and a support team of 12 people will start from The Hague and go to Munich the first WE of October this year. The steering committee (Alain Lambert, Bert van Bommel, Jos van den Berg, Guus Sarneel, Rob de Jager, Peter Bosma and Ragnar Katerbau) has worked hard to organize such a big event. The teams are almost complete and the training has started. Up to date information on the training is available on the AJC website.

AJC annual general assembly

The AJC general assembly 2007 was held on Friday the 25th of May. The minutes will soon be published on the AJC website.
