Patent Run 2007: Running in the rain

Everybody remembers the beautiful weather we had last year for the Patent Run 2006. Well, this time we were not so lucky and we had to face heavy rain.
Some have said that it is better to run when it is a bit cooler and that the rain acts as the best air-co there might be -_^
Others just decided they did not want to take part. We only hope they will next year.

Despite those difficult conditions, there were a lot of smiles on the starting line and most runners looked pretty happy to be there.
152 courageous runners made it to the finish, with somewhat more dirty legs than at the beginning, but still smiling.

There was not time nor participation records broken this year, but there was however a little surprise at the finish: the very young Olaf Bosma arrived in first place in 22'45'', while Laurent Mauries finished second in 23'03'' and Geraoid O'Shea in 23'06''. As for the women, Sonia Rossi controlled perfectly the race and finished first in 26'49'', followed by Nathalie Pierre in 29'06'' and Cornelia Roth in 29'11''.

There are plenty of nice pictures taken by Luk Verdoodt to be seen on the AJC website, as well as all the results ( overall , women , men ).

Maybe you noticed a few new aspects in the Patent Run organization. We provided you with "real" starting numbers which occurred to be a good choice with respect to the rain. The track Marshals wore very visible jackets to help you find  your way. Last but not least, a computer programme has been kindly written by one of our colleagues for a better accuracy of the time registration.

The organizing team would like to thank all those who made the event a success: Mr Hammer for giving the start, the runners of course, all the volunteers, the photographer, the musicians, and our sponsors (Van Breda, Restour, Amicale, the "Bloemenman").

We hope we will see you all next year again.

AJC activities on-hold for the summer

As you probably already know, the AJC activities (Run4Fun, Cooper test, Core stability training) are on-hold for the summer. We will start again in September and will inform you in due time on the Website agenda and via the newsletter.

For the Committee, Cécile
