Dear runners,

In this newsletter no. 24, you will read about:
- Run4Fun
- Core stability

We're back with classic activities !

Run4Fun

Don't worry, the Run4Fun training sessions will be resumed very soon. Just like last year, the Run4Fun group(s) will meet weekly, Thursdays at lunch time. The first session will be run on Thursday 02/10 at 12:00 sharp. Wim and myself will be very happy to run with you through the winter to help you getting fitter and faster.

Core stability

Good news: you won't have to wait so long to join the core stability course. Here again, we don't change a winning team, so we'll meet every Monday at 12:30 in the yoga room. The first training will be held on Monday 08/09.

For those who have never joined the course, here is some more info about it:

Strengthening the muscles and ligaments adds stability and power to a runner's stride, so that the likelihood of getting injured is reduced.

The core stability course will provide you an opportunity to practise basic exercises that will strengthen core muscles and improve posture. The course emphasizes strength, flexibility, breathing, balance and body awareness. It is composed of base exercises that develop muscular strength, endurance, and balance; and of dynamic moves that build velocity and power. Translation: You'll be able to run stronger and longer.

In practical terms, the course develops abdominal, obliques and lower-back muscles that support and stabilize the middle of your body. It strengthens the muscles along the spine, the upper back, the glutes and the legs. It builds muscular strength and endurance in the joints (especially hips, knees and ankles). It challenges your balance and your flexibility.

The course will be resumed on Monday 8th September. It take place weekly, Mondays, at 12:30 in the yoga room (H02B03). There is no need for special equipment. Just come in comfortable sport gear (no shoes), and if you have a mat, please take it with you.
